High school Fall Sports Preview 2014

Get fired up with our look at the sports, schools and athletes to watch this season.

At Suburban Family, the start of the fall sports season means a new year of possibilities. As young athletes prepare for the school year through dedicated training and summertime practices we’re doing our homework, finding out just what’s in store for the next few months.

It’s no secret that South Jersey athletic competition is fierce. Just look at the talent coming out of our area’s schools. Last year’s teams produced state champions, new records and players that have since gone on to compete with the country’s other top athletes at the collegiate level. And this year promises to be no different, with underclassmen moving up to take the reins at their prospective schools and lead what is sure to be another thrilling fall season.

Join us as we take a look at the 17 South Jersey schools on our radar for the fall of 2014. We highlight the athletes to watch across nine individual sports, looking at the strengths and weaknesses of each team to provide our outlook on the upcoming competition. As always, we also provided you with the approaching competitive schedules for all teams and sports, so you’ll be sure to never miss a single game.

And we’re wrapping up the past season by looking at some of the top athletes from the last year in their respective sports. Our Athletes of the Year for the 2013-2014 athletic season have broken records, nabbed championships and left their mark on South Jersey sport. Some of them have moved on to compete in the NCAA, while others—like cross country firecracker Briana Gess—should add some real heat to this year’s competition.

On top of that, we take a look at the current varsity athletes who have already committed to national universities: Students who have been called to use their talents in the next level of play, and are paving their way towards a brighter and more successful future.

Whether scoping out your rival team or checking in on your favorite players, we’ve provided you with a look at the fierce fall season in the pages to come. Grab your school colors and get ready for battle.
