Star Coaches

by Editorial Staff--Suburban Family Magazine

Gene Venuto
Mount Laurel
Indians Lacrosse coach Venuto (pictured) helped lead the U15 Reds to a truly stellar season, ending the year with a South Jersey League championship. Under Ventuo’s leadership, the boys went undefeated during their 17-0 season, and went on to beat Kingsway in the South Jersey Youth Lacrosse final, securing a perfect 2014 season.

Jason Russo
Haddonfield
Haddonfield High School’s girls track and field coach was named a state Track and Field Coach of the Year for 2014 by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Russo was just one of two winners for New Jersey, honored for a stellar spring season, and was entered to win the association’s first National High School Coach of the Year Award.

Theresa DeCoursey
Voorhees
Along with coaching her swim team to an undefeated 5-0 season, head coach DeCoursey and the Voorhees Stingrays vowed to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society School and Youth Programs. DeCoursey encouraged each swimmer to collect pledges from friends and family, then held a Swim-A-Thon to raise proceeds. The Stingrays raised $1,120 for the foundation.

Shane Snyder
Washington Township
Snyder helped boost the Washington Township boys soccer team to a national ranking last year, and this year looks to be no different. Through mid-October, Snyder and the boys were the No. 1 ranked team in the Olympic Conference and the third-ranked team in the state wth a 13-1 record. Snyder and his team were recognized for their success by several local businesses with a brand-new digital sign and celebratory banners.
