What is ThermiVa?
Following childbirth, many women experience a loss of tightness in the vagina and swelling and droopiness of the labia. ThermiVa treatment is a safe, non-surgical, non-invasive procedure to treat vaginal laxity, improving both the tightness and appearance of the vagina and labia. Thermi technology has been used safely to treat poor tone in other parts of the body for years, and now this technology has been harnessed to provide the most effective non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation treatment on the market.
How does ThermiVa work?
ThermiVa utilizes radio frequency technology to gently heat tissue to a targeted temperature. This stimulates the nerve ending to produce neuropeptides which in turn increases blood flow encouraging the formation of new, fresh collagen fibers in the treated area. At the same time, sensitivity and moisture are improved. A computerized device constantly monitors skin temperature and adjusts the ThermiVa wand to ensure that treatment is safe and comfortable.
Are there any prerequisites for this procedure?
Yes, you need to have a normal pap smear and pelvic exam within the last two years. You have to wait for six weeks after a normal vaginal delivery before you can have it done. You cannot have this procedure while on chemotherapy, or if you have a pacemaker or defibrillator.
What conditions can ThermiVa treat?
ThermiVa improves both the tightness of the vagina and the appearance of the labia. It can be used to significantly improve bladder control in women with incontinence. ThermiVa can also be used to treat vaginal dryness and some orgasmic disorders by restoring lubrication to the vagina.
What is a ThermiVa treatment like?
A small wand covered in an ultrasound gel is used to apply ThermiVa energy to the labia and vagina. No anesthesia is necessary, and patients are awake and comfortable throughout the procedure. Sessions last between 20 to 30 minutes, and patients may resume regular activity the same day, without downtime.
How many treatments are needed?
For optimal results, three sessions are recommended. Sessions are typically spaced four weeks apart.
How long do ThermiVa results last?
In clinical studies, ThermiVa results last 9 to 12 months. After the initial three treatments, results can be maintained by scheduling a touch-up procedure once or twice a year.
