Michael Vanaman, Sicklerville
Ten-year-old Michael Vanaman (pictured) placed first in the 11 and under Northeast Regional Eastern Surfing Association Championship and fifth in the East Coast Eastern Surfing Association championship. Vanaman also placed second in the 14 and under Surfing America competition in Montauk, N.Y.

Marie Boisvert, Cherry Hill
Three-year varsity basketball starter senior Marie Boisvert surpassed the 1,000-point mark, and was honored for her accomplishments by the Carino Girls’ Basketball Club of South Jersey.

Anne Johnson & Kristen Niedrach, Medford
Shawnee High School junior Anne Johnson, broke her own school record in the 55-yard dash with a time of 7.44 seconds. The previous record was 7.70. Junior Kristen Niedrach broke the record for the mile with a time of 5:08.44. The previous record was 5:08.46.

Brandon Herr, Marlton
Ten-year-old Doane Academy student Brandon Herr won first place in the Elks National Hoops shoot district competition, scoring 22 out of 25 foul shots in the 10- and 11-year-old division. He also took third place at states, scoring 27 out of 35 foul shots.

Drake Rodgers, Marlton
Cherokee High School senior Drake Rodgers is the fourth all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards for the football team and a two-time all-conference selection at wide receiver. Rodgers will be playing football at Bucknell University next year.

Ryan Caples, Medford
Kirby’s Mill School student Ryan Caples, 11, participates in the nonprofit Kaleidoscope Therapeutic Riding Program. Through hard work, Caples has become able to ride completely independently without any assistance or guidance leading his horse.

Emmy Duffey, Mount Laurel
Emmy Duffey, a junior at Lenape High School, won the 800-meter run in 2:13.51, the second-fastest time in Burlington County history, at the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Meet of Champions. Duffey is ranked No. 1 in New Jersey and No. 6 in the United States for this event.

Dina Lacone, Washington Township
Washington Township High School junior Dina Lacone won the New Jersey State Group IV 3,200-meter race, with her best time of 11:04.15. She also placed fifth in the 1,600-meter race in 5:08.15, her personal best.

Michael Grossmann, Voorhees
Michael Grossmann, a junior on the varsity soccer team at Eastern High School and a member of South Jersey Elite Barrons U17 Soccer Club, was the only New Jersey soccer player selected to play on the all-star team at the Triangle FC Friendlies National Tournament in North Carolina, scoring a goal and an assist.

David Batastini, Moorestown
Representing the Riverton Yacht Club at the St. Petersburg, Fla., Valentine’s Day regatta, sixth-grade student David Batastini of Moorestown’s Upper Elementary School placed ninth out of 80 sailors from the United States.

Jenna Zagoren, Amy Stelmaszyk, Erin McBride & Courtney Patterson, Cherry Hill
Jenna Zagoren, Amy Stelmaszyk, Erin McBride and Courtney Patterson of the Cherry Hill West swim team broke a 5-year-old record, swimming the 400-meter freestyle relay in 3:38.04.

Drew Gavranich & Brian Pelose, Haddonfield
Drew Gavranich of the Lakers scored 30 points and Brian Pelose scored 18, both season highs, beating the Suns 58-39, remaining undefeated this season in the Haddonfield Youth Basketball Association’s fourth- and fifth-grade boys’ league.
